Driftline Terms of Use

Last updated: May 21, 2026

Driftline is a social storytelling game where limited-language vessels drift between players and evolve into shared stories.

In Driftline, users may catch a drifting vessel, read the existing story path, compose a limited-language line using official word banks through a cipher-barrel interface, seal the line, and release the vessel back into the current for other players to continue.

Driftline is a game and collaborative storytelling experience. It is not a direct messaging app, dating app, anonymous chat app, forum, social network, nearby-people service, or private conversation tool.

You may use Driftline only if you are legally allowed to enter into these Terms under the laws that apply to you.

If you are under the age required to consent to these Terms in your country or region, you may use Driftline only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. If you are a parent or guardian and allow a minor to use Driftline, you are responsible for that minor's use of the Service.

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if we believe a user is not eligible to use the Service or is using it in a way that violates these Terms.

Driftline may use Sign in with Apple or other approved sign-in methods. Your account is used for login, purchase records, coin balance, owned digital items, support, moderation, abuse prevention, and account deletion.

Your Driftline account is not a public social identity. Other users cannot see your Apple ID, email address, internal user ID, masked account ID, profile, avatar, follower count, or online status.

Driftline may display a limited, masked account reference in Settings or support-related areas, such as for purchase support or moderation support. This reference is not a public username and is not intended for user-to-user contact.

Driftline does not provide user-to-user contact channels.

Users cannot directly message, reply to a specific person, comment, like, follow, mention, search for users, view user profiles, send images, send audio, send video, exchange contact information, or maintain a private conversation with another user through Driftline.

Each vessel is an asynchronous collaborative story object, not a conversation between two users.

Driftline does not use precise GPS location in its initial version. Users may manually choose a Drift Region, such as a public Region / State or Province / Area / Neighborhood label, to help route vessels and display drift history.

A selected Drift Region does not necessarily represent a user's real location. Users should not treat Drift Regions as proof of where another user lives, works, or is currently located.

You must not use Driftline to infer, expose, request, collect, or share another person's real-world location or contact information.

Driftline uses official word banks and a cipher-barrel interface. In the initial version, users do not freely type story lines. Instead, users compose lines by selecting words or blanks from curated word banks.

Vessel titles are also created from official word banks, not unrestricted text. A title may use one or two official word-bank terms.

Users may receive a limited editing hold when tuning a line. The current design uses a 15-minute hold for ordinary Tune Line turns. Start Vessel has no time limit.

  1. You may not attempt to bypass, manipulate, reverse engineer, or evade the limited-language system, word bank restrictions, moderation controls, reporting system, purchase system, or other product boundaries.
  2. You may not use Driftline to encode, imply, or construct prohibited content or contact information by manipulating word choices, repeated lines, vessel names, or other available features.
  3. You may not use blanks, punctuation, vessel titles, or repeated fragments to imitate free-form contact, harassment, spam, threats, or prohibited content.

A Vessel is a drifting story object. A Path is the story that forms inside a vessel. A Line is a contribution added by a user. Archive refers to completed or stored vessels. Featured refers to manually selected stories.

When you add a line or start a vessel, you understand and agree that other users may continue, alter the direction of, or complete the path. The final story may differ from your original intention.

Your line may become part of an archived or featured story. Your line may be reviewed, hidden, removed, or modified for moderation or safety reasons. You do not own the entire path merely because you started a vessel or contributed a line.

Featured content is selected by Driftline or its moderators/editors. Featured placement is not a popularity ranking, paid boost, or guaranteed outcome.

Your vessel names, lines, reports, and other contributions are User Content.

You retain any rights you may have in your own User Content, subject to the limited and collaborative nature of Driftline. By creating, sealing, releasing, or otherwise submitting User Content, you grant ActSync Games a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, moderate, remove, archive, feature, and use that User Content as needed to operate, improve, promote, and provide the Service.

Because Driftline creates collaborative stories, your User Content may remain visible or preserved in anonymized or context-preserving form even if you later delete your account, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

  1. Harass, threaten, bully, shame, intimidate, or target any person or group.
  2. Promote hate, discrimination, or dehumanization based on protected or sensitive characteristics.
  3. Create, suggest, or encourage sexual content involving minors.
  4. Create sexually explicit, exploitative, predatory, or non-consensual content.
  5. Share, request, encode, or solicit phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, addresses, payment details, or other contact information.
  6. Attempt to identify, track, dox, or locate another user.
  7. Impersonate another person, company, moderator, or Driftline representative.
  8. Scam, deceive, manipulate, phish, or collect personal information from others.
  9. Promote self-harm, violence, terrorism, illegal activity, or dangerous conduct.
  10. Upload, introduce, or distribute malware, automated abuse, scraping tools, bots, or unauthorized scripts.
  11. Interfere with the Service, servers, security systems, moderation tools, purchase systems, or other users' use of the Service.
  12. Exploit bugs, reverse engineer the Service, bypass access controls, or manipulate coin balances, purchases, unlocks, word packs, skins, routing, or featured selection.
  13. Use Driftline for commercial spam, advertising, political campaigning, solicitation, or unauthorized data collection.
  14. Violate any applicable law, regulation, third-party right, or Apple App Store rule.

We may take action against content or accounts that we believe violate these Terms, even if the conduct is not specifically listed above.

Driftline includes line-level reporting and human moderation. Users may report lines or vessels that they believe violate these Terms or community safety rules.

Ordinary users cannot see the identity of the person who wrote a reported line. However, Driftline moderators and authorized personnel may review the reported line, vessel context, reporter account, contributor account, report reason, and moderation history when necessary to operate the reporting and safety system.

We may review, hide, remove, restrict, archive, or preserve content. We may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts. We may also retain certain moderation records for safety, audit, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling.

Driftline may include sample vessels, system vessels, system-generated content, or other non-user content to support early gameplay, onboarding, testing, safety, or product quality.

System-generated content is part of the Service and may be modified, hidden, removed, or discontinued at any time.

Driftline may offer digital items such as coins, vessel skins, word packs, aura or glow effects, paper textures, release animations, archive frames, or other cosmetic or atmospheric items.

Paid content in Driftline provides cosmetic, atmospheric, expressive, or gameplay-flavor benefits only. Paid content does not buy user contact, direct messaging, higher routing priority, better exposure, a better chance of being featured, followers, social influence, or access to another user.

Coins are digital consumable items used only within Driftline. Coins are not money, stored value, bank deposits, gift cards, securities, or property. Coins cannot be withdrawn, transferred, sold, exchanged for cash, tipped to other users, or used outside Driftline.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law or platform rules, all purchases are final once delivered. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled according to Apple's rules and processes.

Non-consumable purchases, such as eligible skins or word packs, may be restorable where supported. Consumable coin packs are not restored through Restore Purchases after they are consumed, although server purchase records may be used for support, balance verification, fraud prevention, or error correction.

Driftline may provide purchase history or account support features so users can review purchases, restore eligible items, or request help with missing entitlements.

For support, we may ask for limited account, device, transaction, or receipt information needed to verify purchases or resolve account problems.

Driftline provides a way to request or initiate account deletion from within the app, where required.

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize account data that is no longer needed to provide the Service, unless we are required or permitted to retain certain information for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, transaction, App Store, or safety reasons.

Published collaborative content may be deleted, anonymized, detached from your account, or preserved in context-preserving form depending on the nature of the content, safety needs, technical requirements, and applicable law. For example, a line that has become part of a collaborative archived path may remain visible without publicly identifying you.

Deleting your account may permanently remove access to your account, coin balance, owned items, drafts, settings, selected Drift Region, purchase entitlements, and support history, except where retained as described above.

We may update, modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue all or part of Driftline at any time. We may change gameplay rules, word banks, vessel limits, editing holds, drift durations, line limits, unlock requirements, store items, moderation systems, and other features.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times, error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every device or operating system version.

Driftline, including its name, design, interface, artwork, vessel skins, word banks, cipher-barrel system, icons, visual style, software, logos, and other materials, is owned by ActSync Games or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property and other laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, create derivative works from, or exploit any part of Driftline except as allowed by these Terms or applicable law.

Driftline may rely on Apple, App Store services, Sign in with Apple, payment processing, hosting, analytics, diagnostics, moderation tools, or other third-party services.

Your use of Driftline may also be subject to Apple's terms, App Store rules, device settings, and third-party service terms. If there is a conflict between these Terms and Apple's mandatory rules for App Store purchases or refunds, Apple's applicable rules will control for those specific matters.

Driftline is provided as is and as available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and error-free operation.

We do not guarantee that any vessel will be completed, featured, archived, seen by a certain number of users, or continued in a particular way.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ActSync Games, its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, digital items, account access, or other intangible losses arising from or related to your use of Driftline.

You may stop using Driftline at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for other users, created legal exposure, abused purchases or support systems, or harmed the Service.

After termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect, including provisions related to User Content licenses, purchases, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the app, website, App Store listing, email, or another reasonable method.

If you have questions about these Terms, contact ActSync Games at contact@actsyncgames.com.
